Basics of medical scribing

            A medical scribe is a someone who focuses on recording a doctor's treatment of a patient. Typically, medical scribes accompany the doctor into the examination room and record the patient-doctor interaction in real time on an electronic health record (EHR). The patient's medical history, prescriptions, allergies, symptoms, and primary complaint must all be entered by the scribe. Additionally, they record the doctor's physical examination and any recommended testing. The scribe will also record the doctor's evaluation and treatment strategy. A medical scribe's job is to increase the accuracy and consistency of medical records while relieving the doctor of the tedious task of data entry.
